Amilcar joined Siemens Gamesa in 2019 and it based in Aalborg, Denmark. His main responsibilities are to conduct root cause analyses across the Siemens Gamesa blade fleet, to provide technical support to all regions around the globe and act as technical guide on different topics within blade technology. He is involved on topics such as leading edge erosion, fracture mechanics for blades, damage tolerance of composite structures, blade repairs, qualification of new materials, structural analysis of blades, and is appointed as expert towards the IEC blade standardization committee. Amilcar, native from Peru, started his journey in the wind industry in 2007 when he joined the Technical University of Denmark as post-doc, where, he also served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. After 4 years, he moved to DNV/DNVGL and worked with certification of wind turbine blades. He also worked for DNV/DNVGL Renewable Advisory conducting blade failure investigations and providing technical advisory services to operators of wind turbines across the globe.
Amilcar holds a PhD. Degree in Civil Engineering with mayor on Structural Mechanics and MSc in Materials Engineering, both from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayaguez. He has a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Antonio Abad University in Cusco, Peru.
